The Best Bacon on Earth is.... Baked In The Oven? That's Right.
Stephanie Bender
It only took us 36 years to figure out that the best bacon on earth is made on a sheet pan, baked in the oven. Yes, it’s true - just try it and you can thank me later.
In my house we keep two things pretty much on hand at all times: Grilled chicken and bacon. While I prefer turkey bacon, Husband buys thick-cut pork bacon from our local farm market every once in a while. With chicken and bacon prepared in advance every week, we have lunches, dinners and sometimes breakfast covered, so it’s a nice little tradition.
This past weekend we discovered the wonder that is BACON ON A SHEET PAN IN THE OVEN and it was life altering. Here’s how to do it:
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil - fold up the edges on the foil to make a “foil boat” - The bacon gives off a ton of grease, so this protects the pan and also cooks the bacon evenly.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees, then put your sheet pan in the oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take out the sheet pan and flip the bacon. Put the sheet pan back in for 15 minutes. Thin sliced would require LESS TIME so keep an eye on it!
The result is perfectly cooked, crisp, flavorful bacon without the grease splatter all over your kitchen. You should be able to take the bacon off the sheet pan and place on a paper plate w/ paper towels for grease soaking, allow your aluminum foil / bacon grease boat to cool off so it’s an easy trip to the garbage can.
